Women in Energy by Celepsa: A program for diversity and female leadership in the energy industry
- The program arrives in the country to strengthen female leadership in a key industry for the energy transition.
Lima, December 2024 - Drawing on the inspiring experience of the "Women in Energy Chile" program from the World Energy Council (WEC) Chile, the Peruvian company Celepsa has adapted this initiative to create its own version in collaboration with the organization, marking its launch for the first time in Peru. This program, aligned with the company's values and priorities, aims to empower women in the energy sector. In its first phase, the program will benefit 13 female employees of the company, providing them with key tools to enhance their professional development and leadership in an industry that is constantly evolving.
The "Women in Energy" program by WEC Chile has trained over 200 women over six years and has proven to be a successful model in the region. With a focus on equality and inclusion, the program has become a benchmark for promoting female leadership in a traditionally male-dominated sector.
"We congratulate Celepsa on its commitment, and we hope that this initiative will inspire other companies in the region to follow their example, promoting female leadership and diversity in the energy sector," expressed Soledad Herrero, Director of Women in Energy WEC Chile, during the inauguration ceremony of the program in Peru.
Celepsa, a company within the UNACEM Group, is dedicated to the generation and commercialization of clean energy and sustainable solutions. Its commitment to the energy transition and inclusive development is reflected in this new initiative, which seeks to strengthen the capabilities of its internal talent, create a more equitable work environment, and contribute to the advancement of a more sustainable energy industry.
The launch event brought together the program participants and key company leaders, such as Eduardo Rivas, General Manager of Celepsa; Patricia Medina, Human Resources Manager of Celepsa; and Marlene Negreiros, Vice President of Talent and Culture of the UNACEM Group. During the event, Eduardo Rivas highlighted trust, long-term vision, and emotional intelligence as the three essential pillars for personal and professional growth.
For her part, Patricia Medina emphasized the importance of this program as part of the comprehensive diversity, equity, and inclusion strategy of the UNACEM Group. "We are excited to launch this female leadership program, which will not only strengthen our female employees but also contribute to a more inclusive and equitable energy sector as part of our corporate program: 'Voces Unidas,'" she noted.
The "Women in Energy by Celepsa" program promises to be a significant step in consolidating a more diverse Peruvian energy sector with greater opportunities for women.
