Lima, October 2024 – In the context of the upcoming APEC Leaders' Summit, which will take place in November, APEC Peru 2024 and the sustainability strategy consulting firm A2G signed an agreement to neutralize the greenhouse gas emissions generated during the event week. Celepsa, a sustainable energy generation company, joins as a strategic partner in this important initiative.

The signing of the agreement was attended by Ambassador Carlos Chávez-Taffur, President of the APEC Peru 2024 Working Group; Arturo Caballero, CEO of A2G; and Ambassador Eric Anderson, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who served as the guest of honor. Additionally, Lorena Gaviño, Deputy Manager of Institutional Affairs and Sustainability at Celepsa, was present at the ceremony held on September 30.

Celepsa, a company of the UNACEM Group, will be a key ally in offsetting the event's emissions through its Clean Development Mechanism project, the El Platanal Hydroelectric Plant, by providing carbon credits. “We are proud to be part of this global effort towards a more sustainable future, reaffirming our commitment to the environment. At Celepsa, we drive the energy transition and contribute to the shift towards a more responsible and sustainable energy model, promoting concrete actions that support the fight against climate change” stated Lorena Gaviño, Deputy Manager of Institutional Affairs and Sustainability at Celepsa.

With this effort, APEC Peru 2024 is positioned not only as an event of international significance but also as a benchmark for sustainability and global collaboration, reinforcing Peru's image as a leader in the fight against climate change.
