Corporate compliance refers to a set of rules, procedures, and best practices designed to prevent operational and legal risks. However, it goes beyond being a set of rules; it constitutes the strategic core of an organization committed to operating ethically and responsibly. Through internal strategies and mechanisms, compliance focuses on the prevention, management, control, and response to risks that could impact the company’s reputation and continuity. In Peru, compliance has gained greater importance in recent years due to the increasing complexity of the legislative environment, requiring companies to be prepared to meet stricter regulations. Additionally, society is increasingly attentive to business ethics, making transparency and integrity essential to building trust among various stakeholders.
In this sense, it is essential that both public and private organizations incorporate ethical and legal standards as part of their good corporate governance protocols. At Celepsa, as a company belonging to the UNACEM Group, we are clear on the path we must follow to achieve the desired results and business success, prioritizing ethics, integrity, and compliance with laws in every decision we make. One of our corporate values is integrity, which guides our behavior and actions through various policies, practices, and initiatives:
-
Code of Ethics and Conduct (CODEC): established by the UNACEM Group, it contains the provisions that we must apply to uphold corporate values in the conduct of our activities and engage responsibly with our stakeholders. Compliance is mandatory for all executives, employees, and suppliers. This document outlines our position on key issues such as respect, sexual harassment, discrimination, theft and fraud, workplace health and safety, human rights, conflict of interest prevention, compliance with anti-corruption laws, information confidentiality, free and fair competition, anti-money laundering and terrorism financing prevention, political involvement, and the comprehensive reporting system, among other important aspects.
-
Ethics Hotline: we provide a channel on our corporate website for reporting, anonymously and confidentially, situations and/or behaviors that violate our CODEC. This platform helps us correctly identify and monitor these processes, safeguarding the well-being and integrity of our employees and all interested parties.
-
Ethics Committee:we have a committee responsible for ensuring compliance with the CODEC. It is also the competent body to receive reports made through the ethics channel, address inquiries, assign investigations, and receive the results of such investigations. Finally, the committee reports to the Board of Directors on the status of complaints and remediation plans.
-
Training and Awareness:we hold sessions with our team aimed at raising awareness, training, and communicating on key compliance topics. Our goal is to achieve the highest level of compliance from all employees, who receive the Code of Ethics and Conduct as an integral part of their employment contract. We want these principles not only to be followed but to become embedded in the DNA of our organization, guiding our daily actions and decisions.
At Celepsa, we act responsibly in each of our areas of influence and in society as a whole. We understand that to generate reliable and sustainable energy, we must take a proactive role in compliance, fostering a culture of integrity and an ethical and transparent governance model for the success of our business. Ultimately, we firmly believe that by acting with integrity above all, we will forge the path toward a more ethical and sustainable future.
